The path along the side of the house is a subtle yet powerful experience which was a gift of the process. As you walk around to the back of the house, take note of where the fascia is relative to eye level. When you ultimately land at the lower yard, notice where the fascia is now. The static datum set by the fascia establishes an acute relationship between grade and structure.
